UNDERSTANDING PE

What Causes
Premature Ejaculation?

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is defined as reaching orgasm too quickly—often within 3 minutes of penetration, and in some cases, even before penetration begins. This condition usually occurs because the nerves in the penis and the brain respond too sensitively to sexual stimulation.

On average, men last about 5–7 minutes during intercourse, which is considered normal. However, if ejaculation happens too quickly and frequently enough to affect intimacy or relationships, it is important to seek the correct treatment based on the underlying cause.

COMMON CAUSES

Common Causes of Premature Ejaculation

1

Hypersensitivity of penile nerves

The penis is more sensitive than average.

2

Certain medications or substances

Some drugs or stimulants may increase arousal and shorten time to climax.

3

Performance anxiety or new partners

Psychological excitement or “novelty” can trigger early ejaculation.

4

Prolonged abstinence

Being sexually inactive for a long time may lead to faster ejaculation.
